Types of bicycle rim joints

The interface of bicycle rim can be divided into welding and riveting, which are mainly applied to aluminum alloy rim.
Features of riveted rims:
1. There are usually prefabricated holes for riveting. Threading the steel core can quickly press to form a rim, which is convenient for mass production.
2. The rim is joined by two pins at the riveting part, which will have a very obvious gap. The strength is not as strong as other parts of the rim, and it is easier to be affected by external forces.
3. The riveted parts of riveted rims usually affect the use of the V-type brake at the initial stage. It takes a period of running in to make it smooth.
4. The gap is reduced by CNC side to reduce the impact on braking.
Features of welded rims:
1. Compared with riveting, the production process of welded rims will consume more man hours.
2. After welding, the joints need to be polished. Generally, the factory conducts the whole circle of heat treatment after welding, and then plating paint, CNC car edge, etc.
3. The production cost of welded rims is relatively high.
4. The welded joint ring has high strength at the joint part, which will not affect the V brake.
